- The original "C1" protocol (commonly referred to as the Punter protocol)
- languished in the 8-bit platform for several years. In fact it was not until
- the code was converted into C by a guy named Ben Pedersen that the Punter
- BBS software (main application for C1) was ported to MS-DOS with its
- cheaper storage, time and date stamps etc.
-
- The current PC-PunterNet file set does not contain anything recognizable
- that says "Punter C1" protocol... then again Zmodem is not that well-
- documented either, and it took me several years to figure out that you
- have to register your copy of Zmodem with Omen Tech in Portland... what I
- would suggest sysops do, if they want to just look at the "C" C1 source
- code is write to Steve Punter in the Tech Support conference on PunterNet.

- Here's a few national numbers to try: Info/PDX bbs (503) 620-6642
-
- TPUG bbs (905) 273-6300
- COCUG bbs (614) 274-6502
- Node 111 (416) 724-2444
- Node 115 (301) 417-9341
-
- Except for TPUG, the above are 24 hour boards with high-speed modems and
- fully variable baud rates. I'm usually on TPUG once a week (very little
- happening there btw) and it seems to answer _ONLY_ at 9600... no other
- speed has worked, in my recent experience anyway. You can also try my
- board at (416) 766-1080 but it's 2400/1200/300 only and the best you
- can do here is to post to Conference 67 - General Support. Finally if
- you post here in comp.sys.cbm and I see your missive, I can post it over
- to Steve Punter.
-
- To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about the contents of the box,
- just what's on the surface. I just run the system and I have a set
- of files and docs-products... historically, if I wanted something taken out
- of the program (or if I wanted something put in) I would have Steve
- or some other programmer do it for me.
-
- These days, I _am_ interested in creating a home page about this stuff;
- I have the guts of a page up at http://web.idirect.com/~stelex but it's
- still pretty spare ("bare-bones") at this point.
-
- Season's Greetings and all the best for BBS'sing and continuity in 1996!
-
- (To all who are waiting on Xmas packages, I'm working on it and I've just
- about got the installation guide done. Hardcopy samples $5 please, make
- your check or M.O. payable to me, thanks.)
